Sanskrit Name: Virabhadrasana III

Focus: Floor

Cautions: high blood pressure, shoulder issues (option: put arms behind back instead of forward)

Benefits:

strengthens ankles, legs, shoulders and back
tones abdomen
improves balance and posture

Instruction:

  • stand in mountain pose
  • inhale and reach arms overhead
  • fold forward raising one leg behind you
  • keep upper body parallel to the ground and raise leg parallel to the ground
  • focus on balance, level hips

Beginner: put arms to the sides

Advanced: bend supporting leg and return
