Sanskrit Name: Virabhadrasana I
Cautions: high blood pressure, shoulder issues (keep arms parallel), neck problems, vertigo, or low blood pressure (do not look up).
Stretches the chest and lungs, shoulders and neck, belly, groin
Strengthens the muscles of the shoulders and arms, and the back
Strengthens and stretches the thighs, calves and ankles
- stand in mountain pose
- keep your heels aligned, turn your back foot so that you can press yoru heel in the ground
- Keep your hips square to the front edge of the mat
- Raise your arms toward the ceiling.
Beginner: raise back heel off the ground
